How to keep your iPhone organised

I used to have a few notes on the Note app, my favourite photos on the Photos app, some GIFs saved around the chat apps like WhatsApp and those important PDFs in Files app. I also kept links in Safari, saved interesting tweets by liking them… Sounds familiar?

That’s when I created Pile - a safe private space in my iPhone where I could save all of this in one single place. All stored in your iCloud (privacy) and available even when offline.

If you can’t wait to try it, here’s the download link. But I recommend you keep reading :D

Keeping stuff in one place

This screenshot is from a folder I have in Pile for my trip to Barcelona with my friends (I’m from there, but it’s their first time visiting):

As you can see, I can have a note on the places I want to visit, an image of the Metro map, a handful of links and a few photos. I can even invite my friends to this folder so they can add whatever they want!

Adding new things to Pile:

Adding new things is super easy. The best way is using the app’s Share Extension, which allows you to share anything from anywhere into Pile app. Let’s take a look on sharing a photo from the Photos app:

From left to right, we first share a photo and tap the Pile icon, we preview our new card and finally we can change which folder we want to add it in (or we can create a new folder). Easy, right?

Organising your things:

Now we’ve added a card but we want to move it around into a folder. We open Pile app and there we see all the cards. We identify the one it’s misplaced and we can drag and drop into the folder we want. So easy!

But the next card is too far to drag and drop… Worry not! Just long-press it until you see the options:

(I did bake those Pasteis de Nata, a Portuguese delicatessen, although they were a bit eggy… 👨🏽‍🍳)

We see here how we have the misplaced photo of the Pasteis de Nata and we want to move them to the Food folder. We simply long-press it, select Move option, and then select our Food folder. That’s it!

How to find stuff:

Even the most organised of all of us can sometimes loose something. I definitely do. So Pile offers really good search capabilities:

But sometimes you don’t remember exactly what’s in it, but you do remember you added it last month. That’s why Activity exists:

I’m an iPad user

That’s great! I also built an iPad app for Pile. It’s not just a simple port, I made it specifically for the iPad screen. It also synchronises between iPhone and iPad without any issues!

I hope you can find the app as useful as I do - and if you have any feedback feel free to contact me! At the page footer you can find the Contact link.
